Stephen Hunt

Executive Chairman

Stephen has over 20 years experience as a Director of ASX listed companies. He is currently a Non Executive Director of American Pacific Borates Ltd. (ASX: ABR). Previous Directorships include, Executive Chairman and a Non Executive Director of Volt Resources Ltd, (ASX: VRC), Non Executive Director Magnis Energy Technologies Ltd. (ASX: MNS), IMX Resources Ltd and Australian Zircon Ltd. Earlier experience includes various marketing management roles with over 15 years at BHP . Stephen is a member of ARC Research Hub for Graphene Enabled Industry Transformation (the Hub) Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) and a Director of the charity, Count Me In.

Mike Bartels

Managing Director

Mike has a wealth of experience in sales and marketing with major multinational coatings companies in Australia and internationally. Mike is an expert at developing strategy, setting vision and executing plans to deliver growth. Mike brings a vast depth of experience to Sparc given his previous roles as global head of marketing, business development manager and sales director for paint, protective coatings and insulation products for major multinational coatings companies.

Stephanie Moroz

Non-Executive Director

Stephanie has over 25 years’ experience and global industry expertise in hydrogen, batteries, nano-materials and combustion engines (petrol, diesel, biofuels, synthetic fuels). Following an international corporate career in automotive manufacturing, she led two materials technology companies through high growth periods, including multi-million dollar capital raises.

Stephanie’s current primary role is Innovation Manager at global energy company EDL, based in Brisbane, Queensland. Within this role she leads the Technology Team in evaluating new technologies and business models for potential applications including energy storage, remote power generation, renewable fuels and decarbonisation. Stephanie also holds the following Board and Advisory positions: Director, Australian Institute of Energy (Chair of the Audit, Risk and Governance Committee); Chair, Renewable Hydrogen Directorate, Clean Energy Council; Chair, Science Industry Advisory Committee, University of the Sunshine Coast; and Grants Assessor, Queensland Government.

Daniel Eddington

Non-Executive Director

Dan has over 20 years experience in the financial markets with experience across multiple sectors including the resource, energy and industrial sectors. Dan specialises in equity capital markets and has been responsible for IPO’s, placements, reverse takeovers, underwritings, corporate negotiations and corporate advisory for companies predominantly in the resource and technology sectors. Dan is also a non-executive director of Jade Gas Holdings (ASX:JGH).

Peter Wilson

General Manager & Engineering Manager

Peter is a professional engineer and manager with 35 years diverse experience in design, production and business operations in industries ranging from consumer electronics to defence and aerospace. In a range of management roles Peter has implemented and managed most corporate functions including HR, quality, commercial, engineering and business development. Peter also operated an engineering, management and strategic consultancy prior to joining Sparc. Peter possesses a unique combination of skills and the ability to communicate effectively in technical, financial and commercial domains, enabling him to solve the complex multi-functional problems associated with rapidly growing companies.

Andrew Smith

Technical Manager – Industrial Materials

Andrew is an Organic Chemist with over 30 years experience in composites and coatings, specialising in functional materials such as anticorrosive and chemical resistant coatings for industrial use. Andrew has held senior regional technical management roles in the protective and marine coatings field within AkzoNobel (a leading coatings company with brands including International, Chartek, Sikkens, Awlgrip Enviroline, Ceilcote and Devoe), in Australia, Asia and the Americas. These roles involved responsibility for product development, testing and integrity, as well as Technical Support functions. Andrew is a member of the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP – formerly NACE) and holds a level 3 CIP certification. Since 2019, Andrew has been involved in developing applications for Graphene technology in composites, functional coating systems and other industrial materials in collaboration with a number of leading Australian Universities.

Ben Yerbury

Technical Lead – Bio-Medical & Health

Ben brings a wealth of experience across Australia and New Zealand, Asia Pacific and European markets and their respective reimbursement models and regulatory environments. Ben has direct and wide expertise in launching new, disruptive, technologies and business models to accelerate business growth and build competitive advantages in the medical device industry.

Jake Parker

Chief Technology Officer

Jake holds a PhD in synthetic biology from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Adelaide, with expertise in protein engineering and biosensors.

With a strong view that synthetic biology would have wide-ranging impact on the world, Jake performed his doctoral research between labs at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, and the Weizman Institute of Science in Israel. During his time at the University of Queensland, Jake also co-founded CLIMB, a commercialisation club at his home institute, as well as undertaking an internship with 23Seed, a Shanghai-based accelerator and VC fund.

To his role, Jake brings a broad background across the chemical and biological sciences, an eye for technologies of the future, and a focus on intellectual property.

Ian Rowell

Ian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Sparc having spent over 50 years working in Global Industrial Coatings for major international paint companies. Throughout his career, Ian has lived in Europe (UK), North America (Houston) and China (Shanghai), thus bringing extensive knowledge of the European, America’s and Asian markets to Sparc. Ian ‘s roles have ranged from Paint Chemist to Senior Business Management and over the last 20 years have included Country Management, Global and Regional Marketing Management and Global Strategy Development for Akzo Nobel. Ian is currently based in Houston, Texas.
